Why Sassuolo
Buying Italian tiles at the source
Most Italian ceramic tiles sold around the world are made in a small area between Modena and Reggio Emilia, known simply as the Sassuolo district. Ceramiche Sassuolo is based in Castellarano, right in the middle of it.
When you buy Italian porcelain tiles in another country, they have usually passed through an importer, a distributor and a local showroom before reaching you. Each step adds cost and time. Ordering from a supplier inside the district shortens that chain: the tiles leave the warehouse near the factories and travel directly to your address.
The range covers brands such as Florim, Casalgrande Padana, Ragno, Panaria, ABK and Serenissima, alongside Italian and imported collections, end-of-line stock and special offers. Everything is sold through a consultant rather than a self-service checkout, because a tiling order is too heavy and too important to leave to chance.

Buying porcelain tiles online from Italy, step by step
A floor is not bought in one click like a book: a typical order weighs hundreds of kilograms and crosses borders. That is why every purchase starts with a quote.
Choose and ask
Shortlist the products in the shop and get in touch: the consultant checks stock, quantities and whether the tile suits the room or the climate.
Get your quote
Materials plus transport to your country, worked out on weight and destination. If an item needs extra preparation time, you are told straight away.
Pallet preparation
Once you confirm, the order goes to the shipping office, which prepares the pallet and books the collection by the carrier.
Delivery
The pallet travels with Palletways to the address you give, or you collect it from the warehouse in Italy with your own transport.
Product sheet guide
How to read an Italian tile's product sheet before you buy
You cannot touch the tile when you buy online, but the product sheet tells you almost everything. These are the details to check, and why they matter when you order from another country.
What a typical sheet lists
- Format
- Thickness
- m² per box
- Weight
- Rectified
- Slip resistance
- Wear resistance
- Batch and shade
- Format
- Nominal size in centimetres, for example 60x60 or 60x120. The actual size can differ by a few millimetres, which is why a recommended joint width is also given. Italian formats are metric, so check them against your room plans rather than imperial sizes.
- Thickness
- Usually 8 to 10 mm for indoor floors and walls; 20 mm tiles are made for outdoor use, laid dry or on pedestals. Thickness has a big effect on the weight of the order.
- m² per box
- The figure you order with: divide the area to cover, plus a margin for cuts and breakages, by the m² in one box and round up. Order everything in one go, because reordering from abroad takes time.
- Weight per box or per m²
- Tells you how heavy the pallet will be, and therefore what is needed to unload it at your address. If it is not listed, ask your consultant.
- Rectified
- The edges are ground by machine after firing, giving precise dimensions and very thin joints. A non-rectified tile has softer edges and needs slightly wider joints.
- Slip resistance (R rating)
- Shows how much grip the surface has. Bathrooms, entrances and outdoor areas call for a higher rating; local building rules may also set a minimum, so mention the intended use when you ask for a quote.
- Wear resistance (PEI)
- Applies to glazed tiles: the higher the class, the more foot traffic the surface can take. It matters more in a busy hallway than in a bedroom.
- Batch, shade and calibre
- Each production run can vary slightly in colour and size. Ordering the whole quantity together means it comes from the same batch; keep a few spare tiles for future repairs, as matching a batch later is difficult.
Delivery across Europe
Receiving a pallet of Italian tiles abroad: what to prepare and what to check
Tiles are bulky, heavy and fragile, and an international delivery needs a little more planning than a parcel. A few precautions make delivery day straightforward.
Before: access and unloading
Describe the delivery address to your consultant so unloading can be planned:
- narrow streets, restricted zones or limits on heavy vehicles;
- upper floors, or no room to leave a pallet;
- whether a forklift or people to help unload will be available.
During: check before you sign
As with any palletised delivery, check on arrival:
- that the number of packages matches the delivery note;
- that the wrapping and film are not torn or crushed;
- if you see damage, note it on the delivery note before signing and tell your consultant at once.
Collection in Italy
Prefer to use your own carrier, or combine the tiles with other goods from Italy? The order can be collected from the warehouse. You are given the weight and size of the goods in advance, so the right vehicle can be booked.
Countries and lead times
Deliveries reach Italy and 24 European countries; other destinations can be assessed on request. Cost and lead time depend on the country and the size of the order, and are always stated in your quote.

Who is behind the shop
A real consultant, even when you buy online
This site belongs to Ceramiche Sassuolo, a company in the Sassuolo ceramic district that has been selling floor and wall tiles online since 2010, both Italian-made and imported.
There is no chain of traditional shops: advice is given remotely, by phone or email, or in the showroom. Your consultant helps you choose, checks the quantities, prepares the quote and coordinates the delivery to your country.
If your project is in Italy, a technician can also visit the site on request and put you in touch with partner installers across the country.
Frequently asked questions
Buying Italian tiles online: your questions answered
How do I buy Italian tiles online from outside Italy?
Choose the products in the shop and contact a consultant by phone or email. They check availability and quantities and send you a quote that includes the materials and transport to your country. Once you confirm, the order goes to the shipping office.
Which countries do you deliver to?
Tiles are delivered in Italy and to 24 European countries. Other destinations can be assessed on request.
How much does delivery to my country cost?
It depends on the destination and on the weight of the order, so there is no fixed price. The exact transport cost is always shown in your quote before you confirm.
How long does delivery take?
Lead times depend on the country and on the quantity ordered, and some products need a few extra days of preparation. Your consultant confirms the expected timing with the quote.
Who carries the tiles?
Shipments travel on pallets with Palletways, a network specialising in express palletised freight, and are insured.
What should I check when the pallet arrives?
Check that the number of packages matches the delivery note and that the wrapping is intact. If you notice any damage, write it on the delivery note before signing and tell your consultant straight away.
Can I collect the tiles in Italy myself?
Yes. You or your own carrier can collect the order from the warehouse in Italy. You are told the weight and size of the goods in advance so you can arrange the right vehicle.
What does rectified mean on an Italian tile?
The edges have been ground by machine after firing, so the dimensions are more precise and the tiles can be laid with very thin grout joints, which suits large formats.
